My Vacation Destination

Winter is the ideal time to take vacation. After the holidays are over and all the decorations are put up most people just feel spent and a nice little vacation can go a long way. Finding cheap flights for a winter vacation is a lot easier than one would think. Winter vacations are not as popular as summer vacations are so the fares are usually cheaper, a bonus here the hotels and resorts are also cheaper during the winter, except during the holidays which is when it is much more expensive.

There are plenty of places to go on a winter vacation, just because it is winter time in some neck of the woods, some places right here in the United States are still sunny and warm. Florida is probably the number one vacation destination for winter vacations. Floridians have even coined a term for folks that come down for the winter, snowbirds. Snowbirds flock to Florida to avoid the snow in their area during the winter. Not such a bad idea. Florida is sunny and warm for most of the year. There are great vacation destinations throughout Florida. Orlando is high on the list of places to visit in Florida because of its high concentration of theme parks. There is Disney World, Sea World and Universal Studios to name the largest and than a smattering of other tourist attractions as well. The theme parks usually do not reduce the cost of their tickets during the winter months but the area hotels do and so do the airlines. The Florida Keys are also a big pull for winter vacations, as is Miami.

If Florida is not your cup of tea and snow sports are, than a winter vacation to get some skiing in might just be the ticket to rejuvenation. Colorado is well known for its picturesque and exciting ski environment. A cheap flight to Colorado can get you on the slopes in no time flat. There are so many resorts to choose from and some may even offer discounts. Although the winter is the in season for ski resorts it might be a bit hard to find and discounted rooms, but the cost may be offset by a cheap flight. It can be affordable and if skiing is the activity of choice why not take a vacation during the winter to re-collect yourself and revive your senses.

The airlines are offering cheap flights to many destinations a winter vacation can easily be arranged to a far flung destination as well or not so far. A trip to Mexico in the middle of the winter is a great getaway hitting up one of the resorts in Cancun before the spring break crowd hits is a great idea. The resorts will be less crowded.

A winter vacation is a great way to take a break during the cold dark months of winter. Cheap flights can make it possible even after all the holly jolly has slipped out of your wallet.
